Twilight is the privacy layer built as a Layer 2 Rollup to securely process data for users and companies.
Twilight nodes are geo-dispersed and operated voluntarily by residential internet users or companies. 2-node architecture effectively prevents node operators from interfering with or eavesdropping on data transmissions.
The core tenet of Twilight's design lies in a principle of distributed knowledge. No single entity within the system possesses complete comprehension of its operation.
Twilight's validators store a registry of nodes and are responsible for scoring and rewarding them. While validators have the authority to authorize connections and manage network access, they lack the ability to directly access or manipulate the data itself. We want to build a trustworthy set of validators from day one, so we decided to leverage the emerging restaking technology on Solana.
The Twilight solution operates as a Layer 2 rollup on top of the Solana blockchain. This ensures that essential data is immutably committed to the underlying blockchain, guaranteeing its tamper-proof nature.
Twilight's decentralized architecture allows several major benefits for the market:
A highly scalable, self-governed network
Better geo-distribution and band load
Lower costs of maintaining infrastructure
